Troubleshooting Guide

This guide covers the most common issues in Button Design Studio: Sports Pro. Start with the section that matches what you are seeing on screen, then work through the steps in order.

Browser Issues

The program is not responding correctly

  • Refresh the page and try again.
  • Close extra browser tabs if your computer is running slowly.
  • Try the app in Chrome, Edge, or Safari if you are using a less common browser.

The app looks outdated after a change

  • Use a hard refresh if your browser is showing an older cached version.
  • On Windows, try Ctrl + F5. On Mac, try Command + Shift + R.

Buttons or sliders do not seem to work

  • Click once outside the preview canvas, then try the control again.
  • If the sliders are still not responding, refresh the browser so the latest controls load correctly.

Preview and Panel Issues

I cannot find the panel I need

  • Use Advance to Next Panel to move through the control panels in order.
  • Use Feature Finder when you want to jump to a common control area faster.
  • Click directly on the players name, jersey number, top text, or bottom text in the preview to open the matching controls when possible.

The wrong text seems selected

  • Click the text again on the preview canvas to reopen its panel.
  • If layers overlap, try clicking closer to the center of the text you want to edit.
  • Toggle through the left column panels to reach the text you want to work with.

Why can't I see the player name or jersey number?

  • Check to see whether Hide Player Name or Hide Jersey Number has been selected.

The dashed guide lines are showing

  • The dashed circles are placement guides only.
  • They should not print in the exported PDF layout.
If the preview looks wrong, check the exported PDF before assuming the print file is wrong. The on-screen guides are for placement only.

Image Problems

The image will not load

  • Try a common image format such as JPG, JPEG, PNG, or WebP.
  • Open the image outside the app first to make sure the file is not damaged.
  • If the image is extremely large, resize it and import again. Please note: photos taken with a cellphone are typically much too large to be used directly in Button Design Studio: Sports Pro.

My transparent PNG does not show a background color

  • Make sure the file is truly a transparent PNG and not a JPG renamed as PNG.
  • The background controls will stay hidden if the image background isn't transparent.
  • After a transparent PNG loads, use Background Color Selector to choose the color behind it.
  • Use Opacity to make the background color lighter or more solid, and use Radial Gradient if you want the outer edge darker than the center.

The image looks stretched or cropped strangely

  • Set the stretch sliders back toward their default values.
  • Lower extreme Image Size settings and then rebuild the adjustment in smaller steps.
  • If Border is on, confirm it still fits the artwork the way you want.

I cannot drag the background image where I want it

  • If you are having trouble dragging the background image, use the Left/Right and Up/Down sliders in Background Image to move it more precisely.
  • You can also click near the outside edge of the design and drag from there.
  • Sometimes text fields overlap parts of the background area and make it harder to grab the image in those spots.
  • You may also be able to reposition the image with the arrow keys on your keyboard.

The image disappears after I move or resize it

  • Reduce extreme scale or stretch settings.
  • Reimport the image and make smaller adjustments.

White background is showing because the image is too small

  • The uploaded image may not include enough background area to fully cover the button design.
  • If possible, use a larger version of the image or one with more background space around the subject.
  • As a workaround, adding or adjusting the Border may help cover some of the exposed white area.

Text and Color Problems

Text is hard to read on the image

  • Turn on the text outline and increase Outline Amount.
  • Try a stronger contrast such as white text with a black outline, or black text with a white outline.
  • Reposition the image or move the text to an area with less visual clutter.

The tagline colors feel limited

  • This is expected in the current version.
  • Tagline Controls now uses only black, white, and middle gray for both the tagline fill and the tagline outline.
  • If you need more contrast, try switching between those three choices and adjusting Outline Amount.

Curved text is not where I expect

  • Adjust Curve Position in the Top Curved Text or Bottom Curved Text panel.
  • Click the curved text directly on the preview and drag up or down to fine-tune the arc position.

Extra text does not look right

  • Select the extra text layer again and review Text Size, Text Height, Text Spacing, and position.
  • If outline is enabled, make sure the outline color is not too close to the fill color.

My custom font did not appear

  • Try a supported font format such as TTF, OTF, WOFF, or WOFF2.
  • Reupload the font and wait for the success message before changing the font menu.
  • If you change the font and it does not update on screen, click the text field in the workspace image, then try the font change again.
  • If the file still will not load, test with a different font file in case the original font is damaged.

The printed color does not exactly match the screen

  • This is normal to some degree. Monitors and printers do not reproduce color the same way.
  • Run a test print before producing a large batch.

Roster Problems

My roster import did not come in correctly

  • The roster needs to be in a CSV file format, with columns such as name, number, and optional qty.
  • Check for blank rows or punctuation that can break the CSV format, such as extra commas, quotation marks, or stray symbols.
  • If quantity is missing in an imported CSV, the app may fall back to its default quantity which is two designs per player.

I clicked a roster row but nothing changed

  • Click once directly on the player row again.
  • Make sure the row contains a name or number and is not an empty entry.
  • After the row becomes active, look at the preview canvas to confirm the player changed there.

The wrong quantity is exporting

  • Review the qty value for each roster row before final export.
  • If quantity is missing in an imported CSV, the app may fall back to its default quantity.

I want to reuse this design with a different team

  • Save the current setup first so you can reload the design styling later.
  • Then import the new roster or edit the current roster rows as needed.

PDF and Printing

Nothing happens when I click Finalize Design

  • Make sure you selected a button size in the right panel first.
  • Check whether your browser blocked the download.
  • If the browser asks where to save the file, complete that step before expecting the PDF to appear.
  • Try again after refreshing the page.

The wrong layout appears in the PDF

  • Confirm the selected button size before exporting.
  • Review the right-side layout preview and image count first.

Printed buttons are too large or too small

  • Print from the exported PDF.
  • In the print dialog, set scale to 100%.
  • Do not use Fit to Page, Shrink to Fit, or other automatic scaling settings.
Most print-size problems are caused by printer scaling settings, not the design file itself.

Files and Permissions

The browser will not let me pick a file

  • Check whether your operating system blocked access to Documents, Desktop, or Downloads.
  • Move the image or CSV file to a simpler folder such as Downloads and try again.

Downloads are not showing up where I expect

  • Check your browser download settings.
  • Look in your default Downloads folder first.
  • Search for the exported PDF by file name if needed.

I am opening the app from a local file and something seems restricted

  • Some browsers handle local files differently.
  • If one browser acts strangely, compare Chrome, Edge, or Safari.

Reset and Recovery

I want to start over with a clean design

  • Refresh the page to reload the workspace.
  • Reimport the image and rebuild the text if you want a fully fresh layout.

The app remembers a setting I do not want anymore

  • Clear the browser site data for the app if you need a full reset of remembered settings.
  • After clearing site data, reopen the app and reapply the settings you want.

Last resort recovery

  • Close the browser tab.
  • Reopen the app fresh.
  • If needed, clear browser cache and local storage for the app, then reopen it again.
Clearing browser site data can remove remembered positions, saved preferences, and other local settings.
